DEFENCE Minister Solan Mirisim says leadership should start at home, then to the country and work place.
“The Papua New Guinea Defence Force is all about leadership, and leadership is about protection and pride for this country as a sovereign nation,” he said.
Mirisim speaking during the launching of the Defence Force Kumul Leadership Framework in Port Moresby yesterday, said that they had not wasted time in implementing it.
He assured Chief Secretary Isaac Lupari, on behalf of military commander Brigadier-General Gilbert Toropo and his officers, that they were ready for Asia Pacific Economic Conference summit (APEC) next year.
He said with the expectations of the defence force white paper for an increase in manpower, they had to continue the leadership.
“Leadership is about protecting and it should start from our family, to the work place and to the country. I want to see discipline in the force. But before discipline, leadership should be there to carry this country forward,” he said.
