Leaking roof forces police out of office

POLICE officers occupying the Central provincial police headquarters in Downtown, Port Moresby, have been told to vacate the building.
Officer in charge of firearms Senior Constable Yama Tau said part of the roof was damaged during strong winds recently, forcing them to look for an alternative office.
“During the heavy rain, the roof over the provincial police commander’s office was blown away leaving his office open to the rain. He can’t stay there,” he said.
“When there is heavy rain, all our files and computers are damaged because of leaks in the roof.
“These are our important court files and general admin files concerning police work.
“Most of us have moved our office files and equipment to our homes.”
