A LEAKING sewage pipe at a school is posing health risks to students, its principal says.

Students and teachers at the KilaKila Secondary School in Port Moresby have been facing water and sewage problem for some time and has reported the problem several times to Eda Ranu.

The taps have run dry and the school’s main sewage pipe was broken.

Principal Francis Saju said the sewage tank was overflowing and it was unhealthy for the students.

Saju said that Eda Ranu’s staff made a brief visit last week to assess the problem but had never returned.

“We have been threatened to send students home because they can’t study in such an environment,” he said.

The school had built new toilet blocks for the students but these could not be used.

Eda Ranu acting operations manager Joseph Tuaki had told The National two weeks ago that they would attend to the matter.
