KAMA Scholars Foundation (KSF) deputy chairman Robert Kama says the establishment of the first disability learning centre in Chimbu will raise the profile of children with disability.
Speaking at the presentation of two computers and a printer to St Bernadette Hospital Special School – the first special learning centre for children with disability in the province last week – Kama said: “We are very pleased that the computers and printer will help in the learning of students with a range of special needs and disabilities.
“We hope to continue building a relationship with the school and see the profile of children with disability raised in the community so the children feel valued and heard, and are given opportunities to participate where they previously weren’t given a voice.”
Teacher Anna Mangre said: We are very pleased with the donation. It is a huge boost to students. Many people have visited us, saw the need in the school but have never helped us and KSF is the first agency to assist the school.” The school is located at the Kundiawa hospital.
