PX Cargo Corporate Bowls in Lae, Morobe ended last Wednesday with Gamoga Lawyers engraving their name on the champion’s shield.

The corporate bowls competition, in its fourth year is sponsored by Air Niugini’s PX Cargo division.

It has attracted more than 150 players to the Lae Bowling Club greens with their families every Wednesday night for the past 10 weeks.

The Gamoga Lawyers team of Lisa Clark, Nialel Pomaleu, Philemon Pomaleu and skippered by Mattso Bazo out-bowled a BOC Gas team made up of Rose Kenny, Henry Unawo, Philip Pup and Bim Ave by a point in a close final.

The game went down to the wire early on as junior bowler Philemon Pomaleu held his nerve to help by getting the ball close to the kitty and leaving no room for the opposition to get a clear run at the white.

The lawyers never looked back as they picked up points from the 7th through to the 10th to wrap the game, beating BOC 15-6.

In the plate final Trukai beat Consort 14-10.

Karo Gamoga said last year they came second but captain Bazo decided to recruite new players for a competitive edge and it paid off.

He encouraged other firms to register a team for the Wednesday evening matches.

PX Cargo regional sales manager, Peter Dokta applauded the teams that participated and said that his firm has been  proud sponsors of the competition for the past four years.
