MORE than 1,500 members of the Legion of Mary in Kundiawa Diocese are motivated to continue their work into the next 100 years.
In a three-day celebration which started on Monday in Mingende, activities were held to reinforce the devotional and pastoral work of the legion in the diocese that started more than 30 years ago.
On Tuesday night, skits dramatising the faith and work of Mother Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, were enacted.
On Wednesday, a Thanksgiving mass was celebrated by Bishop of Kundiawa Paul Sundu at Mingende.
Bishop Sundu thanked the Legion of Mary for its work towards the church and pastoral care.
It was founded in Dublin, Ireland, on Sept 7, 1921.
He said Wednesday was the birthday of Mother Mary, 34th anniversary of the Kundiawa diocese and 149th anniversary of Arnold Jenssa, the founder of SVD missionaries.
Ursula Peng, from Mingende, said the work of the legion was not easy and said she felt encouraged when the bishop wanted all his parishes to take on the legion and make Kundiawa a legion diocese.
Mary Peng said she first started the work of legion with her late husband and family in the 1980s in Mingende.
