Legion of Mary movement in Kundiawa reaches new level

Faith

The Legion of Mary movement of St Anne’s Parish in Dirima, Kundiawa Diocese, has been lifted from “kuria” level to “komisium”.
The Legion of Mary is an international association of members of the Roman Catholic Church who serve it on a voluntary basis.
It was founded in Dublin, Ireland, as a Roman Catholic Marian movement by the layman and civil servant Frank Duff.
Today, active and auxiliary (praying) members make up a total of over 10 million members worldwide, making it the largest apostolic organisation of lay people in the Catholic Church
Being a “komisium” means that St Anne’s now has independent administrative powers and will report to the second and third council or “rege” in Mt Hagen under the Legion of Mary administration structure.
The declaration was made by Mt Hagen rege president, Anna Francis, during the silver jubilee celebration of the Legion of Mary in Dirima.
Until recently, Dirima legion reported to Mingende komisium.
Francis said the upgrading of the status came with challenges.
She said these were for legion members to truly reflect the values and virtues of the Blessed Mary and the apostolic work of Jesus in the parish, community and family lives.
