THE Coca-Cola Ipatas Cup management is full of praise for local business houses supporting teams in its 2012 rugby league competition.
Cup chief executive officer Timothy Lepa commended Gena Holdings Limited for supporting the rural based-team, Asaro Barclay Bulldogs of Asaro, in Eastern Highlands.
Gena Holdings donated K10,000, towards purchase of new uniform and fundraising.
He said the team needed to do a lot of fundraising because they will travel a lot during the tournament.
Asaro Barclay Bulldogs are from the remote Asaro District and are one of the many teams taking part in the Highlands Conference of the Coca-Cola Ipatas Cup.
The teams will take part in the elimination round with the winners proceeding to the preliminary and the final round at respective venues.
Lepa thanked Gena Holdings Limited managing director Timothy Gena in Port Moresby, and urged other local business houses to do the same.
The Bulldogs have been taking part in the Ipatas Cup under different sponsors but were glad that Gena Holdings stepped in to help them for 2012 season.
“I am pleased to assist the team from my area to take part in the prized rugby league competition,” he said.
Gena said he was doing it for the love of the game and to support his tribesman in taking part in the competition.
