Let school resumes after lockdown

Letters

THIS is an open letter to Prime Minister James Marape and National Pandemic Controller David Manning.
Schools in NCD must be opened after the 14-day lockdown because this is seriously going affect our kids.
It will definitely affect the school calendar.
It will be unfair when the rest of the schools in the country that are operating while NCD schools are closed.
Rather, open the schools and make it mandatory that every child wear a face mask.
No face mask, send them home, simple as that, rather than closing the entire school.
Now kids are affected as they are behind two weeks of scheduled classes.
How will they make-up for it?
Also, allow the buses to operate and make it mandatory that every passenger must wear a face mask and allow 15 passengers in a 25-seater bus, maintaining social distancing.
This is our plea to our good prime minister and the controller.
Let police officers and soldiers monitor the buses to make sure they adhere to these rules.
They should also monitor people on the streets are wearing face mask.
No face mask, arrest them.
Lastly, people in the informal sector are starving because they can’t do their little market since there are no buses on the road.
Allow the buses on the road so the people can freely move to do their daily business for survival.
Not every Port Moresby resident has savings that they can source from.
It’s very hard for them.
We look forward to reopening of schools and resuming of buses on the road again.

  • If one student is affected he is she will spread the virus like bush fires. Teachers are human beings and they top are scared of COVID-19 virus ya.

  • True. But inorder for that to happen, we must learn to adapt to this new environment. Resuming everything after the lockdown is a big risk. Education and finance are important factors in today’s society, but a person’s life is invaluable.
