Let us restore the glory of our country together

IN case anyone has lost hope in PNG and in who we are, as people, I want to remind you of the spirit of generosity,  kinship and faith that is our true identity,

A couple of years ago, I was returning to the United States of America from PNG and I inadvertently left some of my luggage on the carousel at  Jackson Airport’s domestic terminal in Port Moresby.

I did not realise it was missing until I was checking into my flight from Sydney to Washington  the next morning.

I called my travel agent back in Lae and asked if she could try to find my luggage.

Upon my arrival home, I received a message from her that she had found it.

I told her to look inside, get my Bible, belt and iPod and post them to me.

A few weeks later, the doorbell rang at my home in Virginia and the postman delivered a massive brown box postmarked Lae, which is 15,000km away.

I opened it and there was my whole suitcase. It must have cost a small fortune for her to send it over.

I rang her and she replied that when God restores, He does it in entirety, He does not just return a little and He is not cheap.

Wantoks, do not become so negative and be discouraged that you give up on embracing the true essence of what defines the nation of PNG.

We are not defined by thieving politicians, corruption and violence.

We are defined by something greater and more powerful which is interwoven throughout a thousand tribes, and that is our love for one another.

Arise and restore PNG.
