Let us throw fruits back at our critics from Pacific

READING about criticisms and comments from some of our guests from the Pacific about the Games facilities, utilities and even us as hosts, prompts me to make this observation.

A relative sent me the following text:

“When someone throws stones at you; that means you are full of fruits

They see allot of harvest in you; that’s why they attack you.

Don’t throw stones back at them; throw fruits instead.

And the fruit’s seed planted in them will inspire them to change.

Don’t go down their level; instead inspire them to go up to yours.”

I read about the New Zealand coach not happy with our facilities, and another New Zealand athlete branding us cannibals and the Fijian official not happy with the quality of our water, and I am sure there are more if we keep looking.

Such comments are usually spurred by envy, insecurity and bigotry.

Going down their path to converse with them is to beat on the same wavelength and frequency with them and become like them.

Let our guests measure up to the standards we have now set by the grand opening and of course be inspired to compete using the world class facilities  we have made available.

Let them measure up to what we have provided for these Games. Their turn will come; and we will be there!

Go Team PNG.  Your 7.3 million people are right behind you.

And Prime Minister O’Neil and Minister Tkatchenko, don’t stop there.

Show them we can also host the Commonwealth Games, next!
