China is the world’s second largest economy by nominal GDP and the world’s largest economy by purchasing power parity. Until 2015, China was the world’s fastest-growing major economy, with growth rates aver=aging 10 per cent over 30 years. It has a population of around 1.4 billion. Chinese President Xi Jinping was here for four days for a State visit followed by a speech at the Apec business leaders’ summit in Port Moresby. Xi’s visit should inspire us to also become a great nation. Xi wants a freer world in terms of trade and he wants the World Trade Organisation to play a leadership role in that.

Teachers hurt:
Teachers in Eastern Highlands continue to be deprived of their leave fares and their case is probably the worst in the country. When will this evil act stop? Many good teachers have left the province and some have died because of this and other issues that are affecting the education system in the province. Please, we need to stop this evil that is killing teachers and education in Eastern Highlands.
