Voting tactics:
There are good, vibrant young leaders on the other side of the House who can lead the next government. I believe in the Opposition MPs’ ability to overthrow Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, but it’s a bad idea to try to lure MPs from the Government side. They are a solid team and cannot be broken away easily. Although they have the numbers, the Opposition has the wisdom to play mind games on the floor of Parliament. People like Sir Julius Chan, Sir Peter Ipatas, William Duma, and James Marabe will not easily come over. Don’t waste your time on them.

Smelly problem:
Can the NCDC health inspectors check why a property located just after the main gate at Telikom Village, North Waigani, on the right, is discharging raw toilet waste into the road curb that runs to the main drain on the public road between the International Convention Centre and the Waigani-Morata road? Close down the accommodation and get the landlord to fix the plumbing. This raw waste is unbearable, stinks, a disease risk and does not meet the city and building laws.

Crime issues:
Crime in Port Moresby is getting worse and it is believed that some police officers are working with criminals. Can the police hierarchy investigate? Police should review its recruitment process and employ people from different working environments. Direct recruitment from grade 12 spoils the name of the police.

Health woes:
The Government and the provincial and district administrations should start spending money on the deteriorating health facilities in Menyamya rather than on unnecessary claims submitted by paper farmers. The Health Department should rectify these situations, like with the OBS ward which was shut down because of poor government funding. Recently, a woman gave birth under a mango tree because the district’s main health centre had been closed because it was in a bad state. The people of Menyamya deserve better.
