Letters in brief

Take on big projects:
I refer to page 10 of The National on Monday which shows Nawaeb MP Kennedy Wenge and Morobe Governor Ginson Saonu presenting building materials to Hobu communities. I sincerely welcome the motive to help homeless families rehabilitate their livelihood again from the man-made disaster. However, it is disgraceful to see the Nawaeb MP and governor trying to manoeuvre in front of the camera to hand over a small piece of metal sheet. Can they start to cutting ribbons of big infrastructure projects like roads and bridges than petty projects ?

Snail mail so slow:
What does it tell you about the Post PNG’s efficiency when a letter dated Dec 12 arrives on Jan 8? It took about a month to deliver the mail Waterfront Post Office, Downtown, to my office in Waigani. In terms of distance, probably less than 5km. I wonder how long it would take for my mail to reach Goroka or Kokopo. At similar “speed”, perhaps six months? A year? Sorry, Mr Postman, you are probably just marginally better than a snail, and I do not think I would be prepared to take a bet on it. With today’s technology, PNG Post will die a natural death.
