Missing out: The Southern Highlands government’s development levy disbursement is unfair to the people of Mt Bosavi LLG. On the eastern part of the Mt Bosavi LLG (Onobasulu tribe) are landowners of South-East Manada petroleum project of PDL2 Kutubu. Since the extraction of our land resource, nothing has been given back to the poor landowners in terms of services like heath, education and road infrastructure. The real projects go to the political favourites and Bosavi always receives shadow projects.

Build road: I urge the Government to continue to finance Tabubil-to-Telefomin and Oksapmin roads instead of spending more money on the existing Highlands Highway. Use less funds to repair bad sections and do not use billions of kina to fix. Telefomin and Faiwol people of Western have not had a road for so many years since operation of Ok Tedi mine. Frieda River is now coming up. Telefomin people need to see Tabubil-Telefomin Road linked before Frieda goes into construction. All in your hands, Government of the day.

Violence rising: I am a frustrated person who resides in West Taraka in Lae and will soon die from violence caused by alcoholics (young boys and married man who have one to five children, etc) in our area. They drink and do all sorts of unacceptable things in the community. I have seen mothers beaten several times by their husbands. Whenever we call the police toll-free line for help, they do not respond to our calls. It is risky and dangerous for the women getting beaten to death. I suggest police who patrol the Taraka area enter in unmarked vehicles. Please be smarter.
