THE Lae Football Association is preparing its U20 men’s and women’s train-on squads with the aim of taking the title to Lae, Morobe.
The PNG Football Association national U20 championships will be held in Goroka, Eastern Highlands, on July 19-25.
LFA match coordinator Alex John said the final teams would be selected on merit and based on their commitment to training.
He said the players had been working on their stamina to ensure they were physically and mentally fit for the duration of the game.
John was counting on the performance of the new breed of players who looked sharp and vibrant, and expected to produce results.
They are certainly taking soccer in Lae to new heights.
However, the players can perform to their best if business houses have confidence in them and invest in their development.
Panamex Pacific (PNG) Ltd has stepped in as the major sponsor of the squads.
National sales and marketing manager Ronald Ram said the company would not hesitate to support this year’s U20 championship.
“Keeping in mind that the players will be the future stars for the province and the country we need to boost their morale and confidence and show all the support not from Panamex alone but all the soccer fans in Morobe,” he said.
Ram said he was calling on other companies to support soccer and the youth for a better future.
The men’s team will be coached by Steven Samson and team manager Jason Peter, while Susan Watpore will guide the women’s team as coach with Raymond Nasa as her assistant.
