Ligo gets nod to head Moresby association

Linda Ligo has been appointed Port Moresby Netball Association president after beating Pole Kassman and Lawrence Lahari to head one of the sport’s biggest affiliates in the country.
Ligo polled 48 while Kassman and Lahari scored eight each at the annual general meeting at the Rita Flynn Courts on Saturday.
Ligo, 46, from Tubusereia, Central, works at the Salvation Army headquarters at Boroko in Port Moresby.
Her new team comprises senior vice-president Toka Aua and junior vice-president Lua Rikis, a former Papua New Guinea Pepes captain.
The treasurer is Wendy Isu, deputy treasurer Caroline Genaia, secretary Avairiso Enoch and deputy secretary Manson Dumo.
The new executives were elected ahead of the season which is expected to start on June 2.
Draws will be finalised and confirmed after payment of affiliation and players registration fees by all the affiliated clubs and teams.
The association urged all clubs to ensure players were registered correctly.
It said registrations would be open at the Rita Flynn VIP room on Saturday and May 29.
Registrations for junior divisions will be done in the morning, with the seniors to follow in the afternoon.
