Lihir vocational now Level 4 school

 ENROLMENT at Lihir’s only vocational training centre at Palie is over the limit for a good reason. 

It has been elevated from a Level 4 to a Level 6 school although this is yet to be confirmed.

Palie is the only vocational school in the province providing mechanical trades training and a stream of hospitality training.

From enrolling at least 100 students in past years, this year has seen a total of 324 students from all parts of New Ireland.

Its elevation means the school has used up all available spaces in the classrooms, dormitories and the mess with the students  to teacher ratio now at 70-plus students to a teacher, an extremely difficult task for teachers to handle.
