A SENIOR officer from Lions Club International and officers from Lions Australia will visit Lae to meet with the local Lions and Lioness Club projects today and tomorrow.

President Barry Palmer of Maitland NSW, currently deputy chair of the Lions Clubs International Foundation, will be accompanied by the district Governor of North Queensland, Kath Scully, to find out the needs of Lae.

The delegation is in PNG to attend the opening on Wednesday of the Lions National Resource Centre for eye health in Port Moresby.

The facility will be a national centre of excellence for blindness prevention, ophthalmology training and a low-cost spectacle distribution hub.

This facility, while funded by the Lions Clubs International Foundation, is a partnership between Lions and Brien Holden Vision Institute, PNG Eye Care, Vision 2020 Australia, CBM and the University of Papua New Guinea and will benefit the whole PNG population.
