Liquidate PX, focus on building PNG Air

IT is time the Government liquidate Air Niugini and all its subsidiaries and focus on building PNG Air as the primary domestic airline for the people.
Air Niugini is the international carrier, who if needed in the post Covid-19 world, can be replaced by PNG Air as it is fully licenced to conduct the same level of operations.
This is not about national pride, it is about the viability of a failed State-owned enterprise that is using up taxpayers’ money instead of focusing on health and economic repairs following years of poor fiscal management by successive governments.
How many millions of taxpayers’ money have been burnt in the name of national pride while private enterprises such as PNG Air has demonstrated perseverance with no government handouts?
Prime Minister James Marape should cut his losses and liquidate what is left to ensure the staff are protected.
PNG Air can continue to provide the service the people need, which will be managed efficiently and professionally.
The State-owned enterprise has provided no returns for years, just let it go.
