Liri to focus on growing rugby following his appointment

Martin Evoa Liri, 53, has been appointed as fulltime administrator of Papua New Guinea Rugby, a role that is funded directly by World Rugby.
According to a PNG Rugby statement, Liri brings extensive knowledge in sports journalism and has also made a successful transition to sports administration and management.
“This includes being chief executive of the PNG Boxing Union, a voluntary position performed in a fulltime capacity from 2016 to last year,” the statement said.
“Martin has been involved in sports related projects such as the establishment of the Gulf Isapea Rugby League franchise having served on its founding board, the PNG Rugby Football League and establishment of the National Soccer League.
“Apart from his primary focus on competent rugby administration, Martin’s focus will be on the development of rugby from the Get Into Rugby programme, talent Identification and to the creation of competitions that will grow the game at the provincial and national levels.”
