Listen to the people of Morobe

Letters

MOROBE politicians should be careful about the Government’s divide and rule tactics over the Wafi Golpu mining development project in Bulolo and Huon Gulf.
How on earth can the Pangu Pati leader and Prime Minister James Marape and his deputy Sam Basil ignore the wishes of the Morobe people and the Morobe government and Governor Ginson Saonu over the deep sea tailing disposals and listen to Environment, Conservation and Climate Change Minister Wera Mori?
Morobe alone won eight seats under Pangu Pati in 2017 elections and are currently supporting the Marape-Basil coalition.
As a former politician, I want to make this clear to Marape and Sam Basil that you are going to lose the political support of Morobean leaders and people to other political parties in 2022 elections if you don’t listen to their wishes.
Our good prime minister, Saonu and the Morobe people’s wishes should be respected because we put you there and you know that.
You should listen to the voice of the majority.
The message is very clear; Morobe people want Wafi Golpu mine to go ahead but we do not support deep sea tailing disposal.
We have opted for terrestrial storage facility.
We are prepared to identify land instead of deep sea tailing disposal.
We don’t need your money to survive.
What we stand for is for the future generations.
We are concerned about the environment that our children are going to live in.
