LLG hands in grant reports

THE Komo local level government is the first in the Komo-Margarima district of Hela to submit its K500,000 government funding acquittal reports to the Department of Implementation and Rural Development this week.
LLG president and the province’s deputy governor, Thomas Potape, said Komo was the host of the PNG LNG Project as more than 80% of the gas would come from the gas fields of PDL 1, Hides PDL 7 and parts of Agore PDL 8.
Projects are yet to be implemented under the SIP grants to cover a population of 24,440 although building material has already been purchased. Expenses have been for:
- Hanago aid post – K205,000;
- construction of community centre at Kangu – K100,000;
- construction of village court houses at Pauda, Mindirate, Para and Yandare under the Law and Order sector – K40,000;
- purchase of seeds for various cash crops to assist farmers under the economic sector – K20,000;
- coffee rehabilitation at Kukupalu under the economic sector – K20,000;
- construction of aid post at Agu under the health sector – K80,000; and,
- Atare and Pami classrooms – K80,000 under education sector.
Potape said they were unable to deliver and implement projects on time because of the late release of the grants.
