A LOCAL level government in Manus  has taken steps to combat climate change and improve food and income security.
The Pobuma LLG has signed an agreement with the National Agricultural Research Institute and the provincial government to establish a resource centre. The LLG is on the south west coast of Manus.
The resource centre at Pobuma will distribute agriculture materials, information, planting materials, livestock to farmers and families through the LLG administration.
It will prepare for climate change issues and droughts, improve food and income security and health.
The Pobuma LLG will provide land for the resource centre, manage the project, fund the implementation of the project and sustain collections of crops and livestock from NARI for research and development activities in the province.
The Manus provincial government will provide funding to sustain the operations of the resource centre, provide skilled technical officers to operate it and ensure associated divisions and stakeholders assist the LLG administration in monitoring and evaluating projects and programmes.
