A LOCAL Level Government president and 24 ward councillors from Jiwaka were sworn in last Thursday at Banz.
They were from the Kol LLG in Jimi, Jiwaka.
A female councillor from Kosap ward council was among the councillors.
They were sworn in by the commissioner of oath, Nalan Kawa at the Banz provincial headquarters.
Jack Nambel was sworn in as president for Kol.
Deputy provincial administrator corporate services, Joseph Karap witnessed the ceremony with other senior public servants in the province.
Nambel said he wanted to change things so that people could benefit from basic services.
He said the past tactics would not be used and he would lead the councillors under a new structure, plan and vision.
“I will change this around to be with the very people who have trusted my leadership and voted for me,” Nambel said.
He said when leaders did not spend most of their time with people, it created a gap where corruption crept in.
“It is time to work now,” Nambel said.
“Back in my local level government for the past 15 years, people had been deprived their rights because they did not feel the government.
“Under my leadership, I will change things around.”
Nambel called on councillors to work with him to serve their people.
