MOROBE deputy Governor and Waria local level government president Morokoi Gaiwata
says Bulolo MP Sam Basil has neglected the people from the 17 ward areas.
Gaiwata, his LLG deputy president Amos Sega and ward 1 councillor Jason Amenai, were all critical of Basil, the National Planning Minister, for neglecting the 12,000 people of Waria.
They said of the 13 schools, only three – Pewaura, Garaina and Gaore primaries – were in operation while the rest of the community schools had shut down.
“Only one of the 12 aid posts and the health centre at Garaina station are in operation,” Gaiwata said.
They said despite the ward project submissions to the Bulolo joint district planning and budget priorities committee, nothing had come from the district services improvement programme funding.
In 2009, the JDP&BPC approved K2 million for the Garaina station rehabilitation programme but only K480,000 was used to install a VSat, generator and air charter, they said.
They said Basil paid for 12 charters at K8,800 each for K105,600.
“We do not know where the rest of the monies has gone,” Sega said.
“If the other five presidents from Wau Rural, Mumeng, Buang, Watut, Wau-Bulolo Urban can receive footbridges, water supply systems, land cruisers, tractors, road maintenance funding, bulldozers for each LLG and agricultural programme fundings, why not Waria LLG?
“If we are inaccessible by road, should not our portion be diverted to complete our road from Sim to Bapi or be given to improve ward projects?”
Gaiwata recently received K3.8 million from the public investment programme for the road project.
