THE Nimamar local level government will be sponsoring 154 students under its Tertiary Education Support Scheme.

Last year, they spent K700,000 on 43 students while this year they will be spending K800,000.

Of this number, 47 will be sponsored to tertiary institutions throughout the country and 107 will attend the LLG’s Franchise University Centre.

Under the Nimamar LLG, TESAS sponsored students are assisted with tuition fees, accommodation, travel and pocket allowances for the duration on their courses.

The Nimamar LLG parliamentary education committee hosted a meeting with this year’s sponsored students on Jan 22 to brief them of the requirements of the programme in terms of their attendance and of the need for them to adhere to these requirements.

The Nimamar LLG’s tertiary scheme is one of only two government programmes which directly connect the 14,000 people on the Island group with their government.
