Local artistes tune in for Games

PNG music sensation Anslom Nakikus will perform his recent hit, Patriotic Games, during  today’s opening ceremony of the 5th PNG Games in Kokopo.
Nakikus joins a host of popular local artists such as George Telek, Kanai Pineri, John Warbat and Julie Toliman in what is expected to be a spectacular showcase of East New Britain music and culture.
Pineri, a former lead singer of the popular Barike Band, will also perform another theme song during the opening ceremony.“These are the patriotic games,” Nakikus reiterated yesterday.
“This is an opportunity for our visitors to enjoy our hospitality. It is also an opportunity for our young and potential talent to be recognised in sports and in music.”
Nakikus and popular lead guitarist Warbat will also turn the opening ceremony stage into an opportunity Nakikus claims is a “one-in-a-lifetime event” for potential young, up and coming musicians.
