A LANDOWNER from Kundiawa, Chimbu, supports the awarding of a contract by the Works Department to Mori Resource Ltd to facilitate compensation payments under the Highlands Highway rehabilitation programme.
His comment followed accusations by two Chimbu businessmen who said there were discrepancies in the awarding of the contract.
The landowner, who did not want to named, said businessmen Peter Kama and Kingstone Womai were inland people who had no land along the highway and had no right to speak for the people.
He said Womai was from the Dinga tribe, in the Sinasina-Yongumugl district, while Kama was from Kup in Kerowagi.
Speaking in Lae, the landowner said the comments made by the entrepreneurs would incite trouble.
Department of Works secretary Joel Luma had confirmed that the contract, awarded to Mori Resource Ltd, had followed due processes.
