“There is an agreement that we will always pay royalties to the designer for new designs.”
Kumar said they were partnering with Wandid Amini Korimbo of Niugini Native and Sarah Todd of PNGian Kala.
“These products are really high demand in the market,” he said.
“A lot of people love to wear their own traditional designs and colours.”
Meanwhile Korimbo said she was selected by Jack’s of PNG during the Stella Runway show.
“It’s a great opportunity because at least we know that Jack’s is also giving back to Papua New Guinea and promoting local designers as well,” she said.
“Jack’s is supporting local designers as well as locals and our motifs being put up by the designers themselves.”

  • It my great pleasure to see Papua New Guinean come up with our own designs in our own country. I disappointment feeling I have at the moment is, the Government entities or bodies should protect our designs and monitor the fake products that are flooding in from Asian superstores around the country. They(Asian) trade stores need to be audited and inspected regularly for our design fake products. Not only our designs but other Goods like Soft Drinks ,tinned fish, biscuits etc…..
