OKIYUFA Primary School, outside Goroka town, Eastern Highlands province, on Tuesday received five new computers and other items worth over K30,000.
Bintangor Trading managing director Simon Sia presented the computers and stationery to the school to fulfil a commitment he made last year during its grade eight graduation.
Sia promised the school five computers after learning that it was the only school in the province teaching basic computing to Grades 7 and 8 students.
He gave five new computers, their accessories, 10 cartons of exercise books, 2,000 rulers, rugby, soccer, and volleyballs and 30 Bintangor Lahanis shirts.
Head teacher Allan Gonohopo and board chairman Lawrence Kera thanked Sia and his company.
“Today’s world is being dictated by computers, our school is the only school leading in teaching basic computing to the students for the past three years.
“However, we need more computers and your generous donation is much appreciated,” Gonohopo said.
Sia said he believed in education and every individual had the right to get a good education.
Sia offered similar help to Kapakamarigi Primary School, in Unggai-Bena district, and Sonofi Community School, in Kainantu district.
