Local firm keen to participate in development
The National, Thursday February 25th, 2016
A LOCAL company in East New Britain is keen on participating in meaningful development in the province.
JR Holdings, nationally-owned and reinforced by its roots well before the 1994 volcanic eruptions, vowed to push its boundaries in business to provide more services to the people. Managing director John Rodrigues said in Kokopo yesterday there was a sense of ownership in ENB that encouraged businesses to grow.
JR Holdings recently established the largest 24-hour service station in Kokopo town, providing various services for the people in a “one-stop shop” location. It has also given the town a “city” look.
“There is a sense of ownership in this province. Everyone has looked after the service station since it opened almost two years ago,” he said.
“This is the only province in the country that has seen people committed in participating in development in all industries.”
He said JR Holdings had established itself to become a reputable business in ENB, serving people in the Islands region.
“We would continue to push the boundaries in our businesses and push for meaningful development in the province,” he said. The Skowhegan Gumur Service Station provides fuel, an eatery, public toilet, stationery outlet, gas outlet, beverage bar, ATMs, car wash service and free Wi-fi.
Rodrigues said the company is willing to participate more in the developments in the province.
