Local firm vows to deliver quality projects

 LOCAL road construction company Construct Oceanic Ltd has promised to deliver quality projects for its clients, including the Southern Highlands provincial government. 

Managing director Sape Molumi gave the undertaking after being awarded a K2 million contract for the upgrading of major provincial roads in Southern Highlands.

The company recently completed the first phase of the Ialibu town road sealing project and will now undertake the second phase. 

The project is funded by the national government at a cost of K10 million.  

Molumi said in order for the pro­vince to develop and grow, there must be “a united force and partnership” in bringing development to the 

province.

He added that Southern Highlands was undergoing a major transition after splitting from Hela.

The influx of economic activity from the PNG LNG project has boosted the province’s economy, Molumi said.

Governor William Powi commended the company for the upgrading of roads in the province.

“We have awarded the contract to the company because of its reputation. It has built and upgraded major roads in the province,” he said.

Powi presented K600,000 as part payment of the K2 million earmarked for major road works in the province.

He said other ongoing road construction and maintenance projects were:

n Re-sealing of 7km road from Angula to Kiburu worth K8.7 million;

n Kiburu to Mendi town stabilisation project worth K9.8 million;

n Kiburu to Sumia road junction sealing project worth K6.5 million; and

n Second phase of Ialibu town roads sealing project worth K5 million.
