THE people of Imbonggu have praised Southern Highlands Governor William Powi for recognising and allocating a provincial government portfolio to their president.

Spokesman Wesley Yope, who claimed to be speaking for the Piambil, Tukupangi and Tona people, praised Powi for having trust and confidence in their leader, Tapoye Natil, and appointing him as the chairman of a provincial government portfolio.

Yope said they had been denied government services and the news was a relief for the people living in the rural areas.

He said Powi was an action governor and they believed in him.
