Locals must take over businesses
The National, Friday February 26th, 2016
MOST, if not all, business operations in Goroka town are owned and operated by foreigners like Asians and Papua New Guineans from other provinces.
What are we going to do about that as Eastern Highlanders?
Are we going to take any drastic measures to address the issue or just relaxing away and say that all is well?
How are we going to participate meaningfully in business opportunities that are available in our town in order to control and build our own economy?
The Eastern Highland provincial government and administration do not seem to have any vision and plans on the matter.
They need to come up with relevant policies now and take control from the provincial executive level.
We cannot be spectators in their own land.
Let us not easily give away opportunities in land and building spaces to the foreigners and other highlanders.
Remember, that Eastern Highland business man and woman cannot be allowed to do business in Kundiawa, Jiwaka, Mt Hagen, Enga, Mendi Hela. You go set up and they will push you out physically next moment.
We must have ultimate control on what is happening in our town in terms of business opportunities.
The Apos who own land and buildings in town need to be properly inducted on their stupidity.
