ABOUT 1000 villagers in Central are concerned about the deteriorating state of the road leading to Port Moresby and say not much had been done over the years to improve it.
Walai village councillor Manu Kilage, on behalf of the villagers, said: “The road is only 3km to the Magi Highway in the Rigo Coast local level government yet we have been neglected.
“In rainy seasons like now, it is impossible for vehicles to use it.
“We have been contributing to the nation’s development in terms of human resources.
“Many of our villagers are working in the private and in Government throughout the country.
“We also take our marine products like fish and garden produce to sell in Port Moresby and Kwikila Station.
“Yet the government from at the LLG, district, provincial and national levels has neglected this road. So now we want to see the fixing of this road during this term of the current government.”
Kilage expressed his people’s concern on Saturday during a law and order awareness at his village.
