GOILALA MP William Samb is now preparing to bring garden food from Goilala in Central to residents of Port Moresby.
Samb, who is also the Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, said yesterday that his people, especially in the Kerau area along the border with Morobe, approached offering to provide food for city residents in response to Prime Minister James Marape’s call to help people struggling during the state of emergency.
Meanwhile, Lamanaipi Community School headmaster Torney Turouhama said all the schools and villages in the Tapini local level government area wanted to take the lead in supplying garden food to those in need in Port Moresby during the lockdown period.
“I appeal to Prime Minister James Marape, Goilala MP and Transport Minister William Samb and other responsible authorities to facilitate air transportation for bags of food from here to Port Moresby,” he said.
“We have lots of fresh garden food like vegetables and fruits,” he said.
“We want to exchange them for store goods like soap, cooking oil, salt and rice.”

  • Leaders tend to come up with smart ideas when disaster or pandemic like covid19 strikes us which is a bit too litle too late. We need leaders who has to think outside the box and plan for emergency situations like this before hand and build infrastructures so when in such situations we could have easily moved the food items by road.

We need smart and intelligent corruption free leaders.

  • Government cannot cater for settlers living unemployed in the city for that garden foods because its too many. I don’t think so… Please just simply get the testing kits and also restrict on all borders and let people move around. Dying from food instead of covid – 19
