A COMMUNITY has been urged to look after school properties to ensure their children get the best education facilities.
Namatanai district administrator Gabriel Towaira, during the opening of the first elementary school teachers’ house at Himau village, ward 17 in the Namatanai LLG, New Ireland, said it was the community’s responsibility to look after facilities such as classrooms, teachers’ houses, trucks and boats.
It included schools’ boards of management and parents.
Towaira told the people that there were problems associated with the operation of school trucks in the district.
He warned that schools which had bad records about looking after school properties such as trucks and boats were unlikely to get further government assistance.
