EMTV yesterday released its coverage schedule for the 2012 London Olympic Games, saying viewers around the country are in for an Olympic-sized treat.
In announcing the schedule information, EMTV and Media Niugini Ltd CEO Bhanu Sud confirmed that EMTV would be broadcasting more than 15 hours of coverage per day for the entire games duration – the largest block of Olympic Games coverage to be televised for any one Olympic Games into Papua New Guinea.
“I am particularly pleased to confirm that for the first time ever, Papua New Guinea will be able to see live coverage of all of its athletes competing at the Summer Olympic Games.
“Our presentation and engineering teams have worked very hard to arrange this coverage, and it is fitting that on the occasion of PNG sending its largest contingent to a games since Atlanta 1996, EMTV will be able to televise the performances of our star athletes to all of PNG.”
Eight athletes will be representing PNG in five sports – Athletics (Toea Wisil and Nelson Stone), swimming (Judith Meauri and Ryan Pini), judo (Raymond Ovinou), taekwando (Theresa Tona) and weightlifting (Dika Toua and Steven Kari).
“With close to 250 hours of competition being televised by EMTV over the two weeks of the games, viewers throughout PNG will be able to see the world’s best athletes on display,” Sud added.
In addition to the performances of PNG’s athletes, Sud said that EMTV has scheduled live and delayed coverage of all of the major track and swimming finals to ensure that viewers do not miss out on witnessing the best that the games has to offer.
“EMTV’s London 2012 coverage has been scheduled to ensure live coverage of PNG’s athletes first, followed by coverage of the all the events and finals that the Olympics are known-for.
“We will be providing coverage of a wide range of sports in addition to highlight packages to allow viewers in PNG to share in this special experience,” Sud said
