Look into labour, industrial relations

Letters

IT is a nightmare at the Department of Labour and Industrial Relations.
There is an immediate need for a change to the top hierarchy.
It is too quiet at the top despite the many issues that needs to be addressed from industrial relations to ministerial statement for the minister to debate in Parliament on the removal of labour mobility programme to Treasury and now the work permits programme to PNG Immigration and Citizenship Authority.
The department has 23 different legislation, ILO conventions and ratifications.
It would better if the National Executive Council send their investigations team to substantiate why there needs to be a change.
I have no personal grievance against the secretary or other leaders in the department, but I am very concerned about the department’s performance.
Look within the department, there are many who are competent and have the calibre, exposure and huge experiences to move the department forward.

Pom
