Lorengau, Rapatona claim Manus cup

LORENGAU Urban and Rapatona are kings and queens of this year’s Manus Governor’s Cup.
In the men’s grand final played yesterday at Prince William Oval in Lorengau,  Lorengau Urban   had a tough contest against fellow townsfolk Lorengau Ward III.
Urban, led by Admiralty-reject Christo Mathews, hammered the Sosogan Poliap Ward III 1-0.
It was a close contest throughout from the starting whistle.
In the women’s grand final, Rapatona won 1-0 in extra time against Pobuma.
Both teams had a goal-less 90 minutes which forced the game into extra time.
Rapatona defended the 1-0 lead to win the John Kapi Natto-sponsored Cup and K5000 while Pobuna settled for the trophy and K3000 runners-up purse.
