Losing a national treasure

IT is disappointing to read that our most famous war relic, the B-17 Flying Fortress “the Swamp Ghost”, is at the Lae port, ready to be shipped to the United States.
This should have been one of the treasures kept in the National Museums.
It is this relic that reminds us of the deaths of thousands of innocent indigenous people.
This seems irresponsible and disrespecting the souls of our forefathers who died in this war.
If we can’t keep the Swamp Ghost, what is the use of portraying the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels?
The Swamp Ghost is supposed to be the pride of PNG, to remind future generations of the war that reached our shores.
This relic would have generated millions of kina in the future, attracting tourists from around the world.
It is as important as the Kokoda Track.
It is embarrassing that the NEC, the highest decision-making body of the country, had given permission for the plane to leave PNG soil.
