NUMBERS were down for the Port Moresby road runners races on Saturday from the Ela Beach Tower, but as with Christmas Day, the POMRR show went ahead, making it 52nd Saturday race meeting for the year.

Titus Tobia won the 2.2km sprint in 10.28 and Paulus Opus beat David Whitehead in the 3.8km race along the beachfront, up Paga Point and back in 23.27.

Andrew Elborn, on call-out duty for AusAID, carried his phone for the length of the 6.7km race but still came in equal first with James Gurumi in 34.51.

Next Saturday’s races will start from the Port Moresby Post Office for over 3.3km and 8.4km races.

All runners and power walkers are welcome.
