AFTER many unsuccessful attempts, John Ali finally won The National masthead competition.
The 25-year-old from Chimbu said since the start of the competition he had been diligently entering and was happy to win.
Ali said apart for the masthead competition he had also participated in other draws but had not win and the positive result had motivated him to continue cutting the mastheads out and posting to The National.
“Last week, I was unsuccessful and got frustrated but that didn’t stop me from buying newspapers and trying again,” Ali said.
“This time I won and I am grateful as the win has given back the value to the money I spent to buy newspapers.”
Ali completed his secondary education last year and was now on the reserve list to join the PNG Defence Force.
He said he would use the money while waiting to be called to Goldie Barracks to start training.
Ali said he enjoyed reading sports, politics and court reports in The National and would continue to buy the paper and continue to enter the masthead competition.
