CHIEF Secretary Isaac Lupari expects Police Commissioner Gari Baki to brief him on an ammunition stockpile in Melbourne, Australia, earmarked for Papua New Guinea.
Lupari said the report would come through the National Security Advisory Committee which was meeting on Thursday.
“The report came out (in The National on Friday) and some of us were quite surprised. I’ve asked for a full briefing from the Police Commissioner,” Lupari said. “The National Security Advisory Committee will look at that issue plus other laws and order issues.” On Apec security, he said “our security forces are prepared for anything that may come or surprise us”.
“We have not heard one complaint from delegates who came from the 20 economies to attend the meetings that we have hosted so far including SOM1,” he said.
Chief of Force Preparation Colonel Siale Francis Diro said security for Apec was guaranteed. “Since October last year, we have allocated a whole battalion, we have increased troop levels along the border. As we approach the leader’s week, the activities along the board will also increase,” he said
