Mad Gauns backed for sevens tilt

THE Mad Gauns rugby sevens side received a timely sponsorship from Rookes Marine Transport to help them get to the National Provincial Sevens championship in Port Moresby this weekend.

Manager Paul Rooke presented a cheque of K4,000 to Madang Rugby Football Union president Geoffrey Bai at the company premises on Tuesday.

Rooke said the company was pleased to support Madang rugby as it was part of their commitment to sport.

Bai said MRFU was grateful for the support for the Madgauns. He said the money would help pay for the team’s airfares and accomodation.

Bai said a 15-man Madgaun squad comprising 12 players and three officials would fly Port Moresby for the big rugby tournament.
