A SINGLE quarters for policemen is being built in Madang.
Work began last week at the back of Jomba police cells after the old accommodation was pulled down.
Madang police commander Chief Inspector Sylvester Kalaut said American company Red Sea Housing Services was engaged to build the new accommodation for 24 policemen.
“The building should be completed about two to three weeks from now,” Kalaut said.
Like some other provinces, most policemen in Madang face problems with accommodation.
A policeman said some of them were forced to get married quickly to women who had proper homes with their parents so they could move in and others transferred out to other provinces.
