Faith

A CATHOLIC community in Madang recently presented a carved gift to the Divine Word Missionaries as a symbol of their appreciation for bringing the Word of God and providing educational and health services in the province.
The Holy Spirit parish council presented the wood carving in recognition of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) for teaching people about Christian values, building and running educational intuitions and providing health services that had helped in the development of the province and its people.
The SVD mission recently celebrated its establishment in the country 125 years ago with provincial superior Fr Jose Orathinkal and general superior Fr Paulus Budi Kleden, who came from Rome, receiving the gift in the Holy Spirit Cathedral.
The SVD 125 year’s celebrations was held last week and concluded with a closing mass.
Meanwhile, senior SVD members held a Provincial Chapter meeting for resolutions on pressing issues, agendas, and proposals made in the provincial general assembly last week.
