MADANG education adviser Moses Sariki says the K200 project fees set by the government could be subject to change.
“We, the provincial education board, are yet to sit down and make any decision,” he said when questioned whether schools in Madang would be imposing the fees.
“We have through a circular instructed all schools not to charge any project fees nor pay extra school fees.”
Sariki said submissions by schools to impose the fees would have to go before the board for its decision.
“Right now requests from schools are coming in to have project fees increased,” he said.
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill announced last week that the maximum project fee was K200 and schools that charged more would face disciplinary action by the government.
