Doctors in Madang began polling on Monday to choose their national executive members.
The election is being conducted at the Modilon General Hospital grounds by Madang election manager Justin Pantumari.
Pantumari said the election began on May 14 and would end tomorrow.
He said the doctors were given two weeks to elect their executives so that others working overseas would have enough time to travel back to vote.
Pantumari said Madang began late this week because the ballot papers arrived on Monday.
He said the doctors were voting for the national president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, dental representative and the Mamose representative.
“Each doctor coming in to vote fills six ballot papers, each for the six positions,” he said.
Angau General Hospital surgeon Dr Steven James was the only nominee for Mamose representative while Dr John Kulu is also unopposed for the dental representative’s position.
Dr Kune Gabriel said Madang has about 25 doctors but only 18 were financial members and eligible to vote.
